Generally, such a department will be tasked with handling most of the official communication from the company. Typically, such a department will handle communication to the press as well as respond to inquiries from reporters, etc.

Communication department is meant to give information about all matters of a Companys activities. It can be by creating a website, starting a inhouse magazine, periodical press releases etc. It can be headed by a President, Corporate Communications, a VP, a PRO and required Assistants to collect and distribute information and laise with Govt Authoritiers, Press, own offices and staff and other corporates.
