Interpersonal communications = talking person-to person. Conversations, negotiations, etc.



Public communication = speeches, presentations, etc.



Both are important. Interpersonal, though, is more natural to most people - and also harder to teach. Public communication is easier to teach, but you won't use it quite as frequently as interpersonal communication. In my experience, however, you'll still use public communication and the skills you learn there all the time.



So, my recommendation? Check out the instructors, consider your weaknesses and career plans, and choose the one that will most benefit you in the future. If you aren't certain which will be better, I'd recommend the public communications course.
