What is the difference between Journalism and Communication studies?

I'm going to Rutgers school of Communication and Information. i have the option to choose a major either in journalism or communications at the school. what is the difference? i want a career where i work in the operating room (computer room) in a local news studio.What is the difference between Journalism and Communication studies?
I think journalism is more focused on writing, and communication studies is more focused on, well, communication.

I'd say do communication studies if you want a job like that in a news studio, but you should email and admissions person at your college and ask, to make sure.
